Absolutely stunning find. Huge Brugittinne rosary from Lourdes a pilgrimage souvenir, it has obviously been used in devotion but cherished. It's beads and prayers are worn by the touch of the hands of prayer.
It dates from the early 1900s.
Carved intricately from what looks like ebonised wood it is an absolute joy.
The crucifix measures 9cm or 3.5" long and is set in metal, this is probably not the original crucifix for the rosary, maybe someone wanted something a little grander many years ago?
The ensemble measures 122cm or 4 foot from the 'nape' of the rosary to the bottom of the cross.
