Traditional French farmhouse rustic jug made with local clay dating from the 1800s.
This has a beautiful multi tonal glaze as a result of its age and method of production, it is very irregular which makes it so charming. Glazed and fired in small batches, each one is therefore slightly different both in shape and from village pottery to village pottery, depending on the geology.
Essential for a French country kitchen, would have been used for water, milk or cider
This jug has a small, old chip to the side of the lip which does not distract from its rustic charm and is in good condiction for its age.
The jug measures just under 8" or 20cm
