Set of very timeworn red and gold books; perfect French props.
They have loose spines, sepia toned pages, a few scribbles and stains but are charming for that.
The smallest at 8.5" by 5" is the search for 'l'Oncle Antoine' and has no date but some lovely illustrations from the search. It looks around early 1900s by the way ot is printed.
The middle book has a lovely portrait of a lady sitting on a bench, glued by hand at time of production, on the gilded cover. This book is dated 1934 and has pink and white illustrations.
The largest book has had a colour picture glued at manufacture on the front cover, pre-dating accessible colour publishing. Inside the prints are black and white. It tells of the legends of the Brittany coast. It is also dated 1934 and measures 10" by 6.5".
