From an old French bar or bistrot, this wonderful chunky pyrogène or match striker has been left in as found condition, with the patina in the ridges where the matches have been struck for many decades.

As these have become very popular, some modern copies have been made, I have left the patina intact so you can see its history.

This is made of heavy weight porcelain ironstone, probably why it has survived so long on a bar! It advertises Brunier fruit liqueurs from Lyon in the south of France. The colour is a deep cherry red and I aprticularly like the rounded shape of the cup with the striking ridges.

It measures 4" tall

The ridges can be cleaned, if you wish, with dish soap and a toothbrush.
