A classic white ironstone French pyrogène or matchstriker with a difference, this has the Creil et Montereau stamp on the base, it was made in a recognised top manufacturer, rather than an ordinary pottery. 
 
The stamp also dates the striker to being made between 1876 and 1895.
 
The pyrogène is in good condition for its age and much use. there is a small crack in the ironstone below the rim, pictured. This is believed to be from manufacture.
