A beautiful and unusual pair of French blue and white plates from the late 1800s when the 'Japonaisism' fashion was at its height in Paris. They depict a lady sutting under a shade on a bridge over a stream, the stream running away into a waterfall and a beautiful Japonese style summer house. A man holds a parasol for her.

 

They are unusually hexagonal in shape woth floral motifs on the edge. Underneath they are stamped PR Regence with a horn shaped stame and imprinted with the words 'Terre de Fer' or ironstone.

 

They have minor signs of use and age and measure 9 1/4" diameter.
