Who doesn't want to preserve precious memories of Paris? Someone visiting over a hundred years ago certainly did!

This delightful little souvenir box probably dates from 1900 as this was the year that the rather grand triumph of French engineering, the Pont Alexandre III, was completed to tie in with the National Exhibition of the same year.

The polychromatic image of the Pont Alexandre III is clear and the colours still bright, without damage, the thick bevelled glass is in great condition too. The box holds together securely with its rather beautifully patinated ornate oromlu frame but one leg has bent everso slightly so one foot is about 1mm off the ground. The original grey silk cushion is threadbare, as they usually are through a good 120 years of use.
