This is a beloved design by favoured manufacturer Jules Veillard Bordeaux. Beloved because of the gorgeous birds sitting on a floral branch on the front and further birds and insects flying around the bowl.
 
The very attractive stamp on the base dates it from 1875.
 
It is attractively patinated from years of use, no doubt a favourite in its household. There is a chip under the rim at the back, pictured.
