A stunning antique find from Paris, a high quality glass and ornate ormolu casket for keeping expensive Parisian perfumes safe whilst displaying them elegantly in Madame's boudoir. It joins the Quintessentially French Prestige collection.
When the door is opened, the two crown shaped containers for perfume bottles are brought forward, for Madame to choose. It can be carried by the handle, so convenient.
This fabulous and rare find dates from the mid to late 1800s. Particularly of note is the thickness of the bevelled glass and the metal, gilded bronze not a cheaper thinner metal, indicating age and top quality. The bevels of the glass refract light enchantingly.
The ormolu, gilded bronze, is very ornate on the legs and it is patinated as appropriate to its age. it is slightly misshapen at the base at the front, but the door still clips shut. The original golden silk cushion has some threadbare wear, as it should. There is some corrosion to the underside and a small scratch on the back of the glass which is not hugely apparent.
The box measures 3.5" tall, 2.5" wide and 2" deep.
