I love imagining the Victorian, or Napoleon III era, as its French,  lady using this to button up her long elegant boots with a whole row of tiny buttons.
 
It is a little timeworn, both the metal and the bone handle, but it is a lovely piece of history and a direct link with a lady's daily life in the past. It also displays beautifully and makes a super photography prop.
