A really quirky find from Paris and from a Parisian store, marked "JP Paris" on the underside as well as the words 'Cale assiette' imprinted into the metal. Clearly a piece of dining equipment that no home should be without!
They are designed to be slid under an asparagus or artichoke plate (which have an indented section to collect the sauce) to tilt it to eat the delicious sauce and juices. Sometimes they are used for the French style shallow soup bowls.
There are five available and they show their use in a French home in the plate loss to a greater or lesser extent,
