A tranquil early simmer scene in quintessentially French countryside. Trees surround a large lake, dressed in their fresh green leaves, they are reflected in the tranquil lake. The pink of the wild flowers below further adds to the lightness of the atmosphere. 
 
It is painted in an impressionistic style catching the fleeting moment of the sunshine in the mid left foreground and then leading the eye into the distance illuminating the wider lake in the right mid ground.

The painting measures  10.75" by 8.75" and the frame 14.5" by 12.5"
 
The frame is a creamy taupe colour with gilded highlights, believed to be original from the early 1900s when this was painted. There are some knocks to the frame from age and use, but it has charm.
