A well used pair of faisselle cheese strainers in terracotta pottery with a lovely yellow glaze, one slightly darker than the other.

These moulds were used to make a fresh farmhouse cheese called faisselle, the whey drained through the holes leaving a soft cheese behind.

These hand made moulds measure approximately 2" tall and 4" diameter. They have signs of many years' usin the form of nibbles around the rim and general signs of a long working life in the dairy! The lighter one has a larger chip on the outside of the rim.
