A striking French Belle Époque jardinière discovered in Paris, exceptional as it retains its original cobalt blue glass liner and matching mirrored plateau or stand.
Crafted in richly detailed silver plate, the pierced rococo-style body is adorned with scrolling acanthus ornament, elegant handles, and raised on graceful cabriole feet. The deep cobalt glass glows beautifully through the openwork decoration, creating a dramatic contrast against the softly timeworn silvered surface.
Originally intended as an elegant floral centerpiece, it remains every bit as captivating today, whether filled with garden roses, displayed upon a dining table, or styled on a console in a layered Parisian interior.
The original mirrored stand reflects both the intricate metalwork, cobalt glass and floral arrangements above, adding depth and sparkle from every angle. The underside of the mirror has been replaced to hold the mirror more firmly. This is not visible when in use.
Made in France, circa 1900. The base measures 17" by 9" and the jardinière 12" by 5" wide and is 5" high. There is some plating loss from constant use and commensurate with its age.
