A portrait of a remarkable woman, the striking look, unflinching close up and honesty of the painting, celebrating her age not hiding it. 
 
Skilfully painted, the impasto nature of the painting emphasises the positivity of her age, giving at the same time an impressionistic feel with a very realistic character coming from the canvas. Both this woman and depicting the strength of women at this stage of life, my stage of life!
 
Her blue dress is timeless, the scarf or collar draping elegantly. However, given the condition of the painting and the canvas, I would date this to the mid 20th century, hard to be precise due to the timeless nature of the subject.
 
The canvas measures 18" by 13" it is in good condition with only marks from framing on the edge.
