The 'Donjon" design by Longwy, it depicts birds flying around the ruined tower of an old castle looking out to see or across a lake.
 
It is a charming piece with light crazing but suitable for use or display, particularly lovely as part of a plate wall.
 
It is a classic French ink blue and has both the maker's stamp and imprint of terre de fer, confirming it is both ironstone and an older piece, from the second half of the 1800s.
 
It measures 9.5" in diameter
